The Project Tea-Land has two parts: Ecology & Evolution: Ecology is focused on discovering the relationship between human and the environment surrounded by Lei in her hometown city Hangzhou, which is the tea-land. Lei used different ways of recording to show a reality of a Self-sufficient
eco-system between tea-workers and tea-lands, with a textile series simulating the lanscapes. Evolution tells a story in the near future, around 2060-2070, when a character called ‘Lin’ who has the ability of both cat and human becomes a gaurdian of the tea-land.

Lin
The Senario sets before No-Land (Link to No-Land: Prologue / No-Land: Life in 2223), when sea water starts to invade the lands. With
the rise of sea-level, many cats afraid of water would only live in a human’s
house that is eliminated from natural selection. Wildcats become endangered and
precious. With people’s fanaticism of cats and other animals, the future
genetic modification technology would allow human transform into animal hybrid
easily, to have more ideal physiques.
Lin is from the first groups of cat-people who live
in Longjing Village, who has a hybrid gene between humans and cats. Lin is haunting tea-fish for her own family who owns a field,
at that time the tea-fish become more popular and expensive because unlike the
normal tea, they are salt-tolerant that helps people maintain healthy and avoid
excessive sodium contents in the body because of the sea-water penetration. For
a better profit, Lin is also a theif who would sneak into other farmers’ area
for their tea-fish at night.
